Some parents pass down their previous iPad or iPhone to a child to use without setting up a new Apple ID on the device. While this may seem ok, you can not set up an Apple family correctly unless you have a separate Apple ID. Note that the child members of an Apple family must be under the age of 18.
So you will want to be able to re-download the apps under the newly added Apple ID in your Apple family, follow these instructions
If you use purchase sharing, you can download apps and play content that your family members have bought.
Use your iPhone or iPad to download content that family members have purchased.
- Open the App Store, Apple TV app or Apple Books.
- Find your family member's purchases.
- App Store: tap your profile picture at the top of the screen, then tap Purchased.
- Apple TV app: tap the Library tab, then tap Family Sharing.
- Apple Books: tap your profile picture at the top of the screen.
- Tap your family member's names to see their content. Find out what to do if you can't see any content or can't tap your family member.
- To download an item, tap the Download button next to it.
Use your Mac to download content that family members have purchased
Find the list of your family's purchases, then download or play the content.
Download an app on your Mac
- Open the App Store.
- Click your name in the bottom corner. If you can't see your name, click the Sign In button , then click your name.
- To see a family member's content, click your name next to Purchased by. Then choose a family member's name from the list that appears.
- Download the app you want.
Download a TV programme or film on your Mac
- Open the Apple TV app.
- Click Library at the top of the window, then click the arrow next to Library in the sidebar and select a family member's library.
- Download or play the TV programme you want.
Download a book or audiobook on your Mac
- Open the Apple Books app.
- Click your name in the bottom corner. If you can't see your name, click the Sign In button , then click your name.
- Your account page will appear. Under Family Purchases, choose a family member's name.
- Choose Books or Audiobooks.
- Download the books you want.
Use your PC to download content that family members have purchased
- From the menu bar at the top of the iTunes window, choose Account > Family Purchases.
- Select a family member's name to view their content.
- Download or play the items you want.
Use your Apple TV, smart TV or streaming device to watch TV programmes that family members have purchased
- Open the Apple TV app.
- Select Library > Family Sharing, then select your family member to see their shared films and TV programmes.
