There are a few key elements to managing time in ScreenCoach.
Base Time Allowance = The Free Time you give your kids each day before they need to earn any extra time.
- It shows up as blue in the time bar
- This is set up in the child settings area in "Allowance". You can have different amounts for each day.
- Any unused Time Allowance for a day is lost
Token Time is the time earned by children doing Activities.
- It shows up in green in the time bar
- Earned when activities are approved
- Trusted child can self approve (up to their level of trust)
- The system default is 5 minutes per token (for each child)
- This is set in the child settings area in "Config", you can change it per child
- NOTE: If you change this you may need to change the amount of tokens given in Activity Catalogue
- Any unused Token Time carries forward into the future
- Kids can convert their own tokens into Gems
Maximum allowed time (Mode)
- Is the maximum time you allow in a mode for a day, REGARDLESS of how many tokens they have
- Some people leave this high to allow kids to spend their saved Tokens, so they can learn to save & budget their time.
- This is set in the Mode settings area in "Daily Limits" tab. You can have different amounts for each day.
Access Times
- Are the times during the day/night that you allow access to devices. This has the highest priority;
- Even if kids have lots of Token time or time allowance, they cannot access devices outside of allowed access times.
- Access Times are set in the Mode area in the "Access Times" tab. You can have different amounts for each day.
- The image below shows Fun Time which is allowed before school and after school, with a later bedtime on Friday and Saturday nights. Saturday is allowed during the day time
