ScreenCoach needs to run all the time to be able to track and manage the time of devices.

On iPhones & iPads, this is done by tracking the device's location in the background.

For ScreenCoach to operate correctly, location services needs to be enabled all the time

However, Apple does not allow you to set the location services to always in one step...
When you installed the ScreenCoach App, your should have been given option to enable location services and set it to "While Using"

Here are the steps to complete the correct configuration:

1. Open iPhone/iPad settings

2. Scroll to "ScreenCoach" or search for it (if there are lots of apps!)

Search Example

3. Selection "Location" option

What if you don't see location services on this screen (3) above?

 - Answer below

4. Set Location to Always

Enable Location within the ScreenCoach App

If you do not see a location option within the ScreenCoach app settings, this is most likely caused by not enabling location options when you install the app. This is okay. You can fix it now.

Open the Screencoach app, switch to a parent user, then

  • Go to the hamburger menu icon in the top left
  • Select App Settings
  • Enable location permissions
  • on the next screen, Set it to "Allow while using."
  • Return back to Step 4 from above (Set Location to Always Allow)

TROUBLESHOOTING TIP, If you have tried to "Enable Location within the ScreenCoach App" (as above) but still cannot see the location options in the iPhone/iPad settings, then you need to check to see if you have turned off locations services globally for all Apps (as this will override the attempt to "Enable Location within the ScreenCoach App" (from above).

  • Go to Settings on your iPhone or iPad
  • Search for "Location" or;

  • Select "Privacy & Security"
  • On the top of the screen, you will see "Location Services"
  • Enable the Location Services
